Walk-in Examinations
Here at Kokomo Animal Hospital we offer a wide variety of services to pet owners. With five doctors on staff we see a variety of pets, from dogs and cats, to birds, reptiles, and pocket pets. Three doctors are available to see patients during walk-in hours daily. As long as you come during our walk-in hours we will see your pet. This way, if you feel your pet is sick or injured you do not have to call and wait on an appointment. During this time we can do annual exams and vaccinations, or evaluate special problems or injuries. Doctors see patients, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 Monday thru Friday, and 8:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays. We are not open on Sunday.
As you enter our lobby, you will be greeted by our friendly office staff. We have a wonderful group of ladies that will assist you, answer your questions and try to make your visit a pleasant one.
Surgery
Along with seeing patients during walk-in hours we also do an average of 5 surgeries per day Monday through Friday. These can be scheduled or arranged as needed by a doctor. Surgeries can range from simple growth removals, to routine spay/neuter and/or declawing, to more complicated cruciate(ACL) repair, amputation, or c
esarean section. Pre-op blood screening is available, and pets are monitored by EKG while under anesthetic. Canine ear crop/trims are available to applicable breeds (i.e. Boxer, Doberman, Pit Bull Terrier, Schnauzer, etc) and must be done at 10 - 12 weeks of age. (Call for details.)
Dental
Owners can also take advantage of our excellent dental services. With state of the art equipment your pet can receive routine cleaning and maintenance with the same equipment seen in your human dentists office. This regular dental care helps to improve and prolong your pet's life.
Diagnostic Technology
Kokomo Animal Hospital also offers EKG, Digital Radiology (x-ray), and Ultrasound. Our laboratory equipment allows us to perform many tests in-house while you wait, as well as the ability to send to outside laboratories through daily pickup service. We are very excited to have recently upgraded to a new digital x-ray machine. Each exam room is equipped with a flat-screen computer monitor where x-rays can be viewed by the client. X-rays can also be sent home with the client on cd-rom, emailed for consultation to a Radiolgy specialist.
Emergency Services
Kokomo Animal Hospital has a doctor on call at all times for emergency situations. To reach a doctor after business hours please call our office and the answering machine will instruct you on how to page the doctor.
Boarding
Boarding service is also available at our hospital. Our doctors do rounds, which insures your pet's happiness and health. We have small cages, large cages, and indoor runs. Dogs are rotated to runs periodically to exercise and use the bathroom. We have a separate cat ward where the cats have their own separate cages and are provided their own litter box. We provide all blankets and bedding as well as Science Diet food. Special Prescription diets are also available. Pets can also be given their daily medications or given insulin injections while staying with us.

Grooming
We also offer bathing and grooming on weekdays by appointment. You may call and schedule just a bath, or a bath and trim. Grooming is performed by our groomer Jennifer Mendenhall. A 1990 graduate of Animal Arts Academy, she has over 18 years experience.
Our grooming services include; Bath and trim, nail trim, anal gland expression, and ear cleaning/plucking. Working in a hospital setting allows us to trim animals that are hard to work with because they can be sedated or tranquilized by a doctor. This allows the groomer to be able to do a quality job safely, this is much less traumatic for the pet, and is especially helpful for long-haired cats.
